Good Horsey, 2005. Understrung fiddle, built on a 1937 violin body (penciled “JHS, 1937” on back, no other details) with broken neck. Cracks in top and back repaired, new button; some new linings; crushed rib repaired; new neck block, maple neck, pegbox, and ebony pegs; new fingerboard, bridge, end block, and endpin. Hardanger fiddle traditionalists might sputter, but it’s hard to argue with that fine, ringing sound. | |
